Greenwich Asks Residents To Continue Snow Cleanup Efforts

GREENWICH, Conn., -- Greenwich is returning to normal after a fierce snowstorm pummeled the area Tuesday, a senior Greenwich Police officer said Wednesday.

As the cleanup continues throughout the area Greenwich Police is asking for the public's continued help by cleaning sidewalks and removing snow buried vehicles.

Patrol Division Commander Capt. Robert Berry thanked residents for staying off the roads Tuesday but is asking for their assistance as the cleanup continues.

"We would like to remind our residents and businesses that sidewalks must be cleared and buried cars must be shoveled out," he said. "Sidewalks have to be cleared according to Town Ordinance no later than 18 hours after the storm and cars can only be left unmoved on public roads for 24 hours."

Although the area managed to avoid the blizzard that was forecast, wet, heavy snow and high winds still caused schools and businesses to close and kept traffic off the roads.
